SEA recently completed a major cockpit avionics modernization program on this SA 227 Metroliner. Removed equipment included an early generation EFIS, many electromechanical and pneumatic instruments, and older communication & navigation equipment. Through the use of 5 Supplemental Type Certificates and FAA DER approved data, SEA installed a complete new Garmin avionics package.
Included in the upgrade:
- Dual Garmin G700 TXi EFIS Systems with GDU 1060s
- Garmin TAWS-B
- Garmin GTN 750 Xi and GTN 650 Xi GPS/NAV/COMs
- Garmin GTS 855 TCAS I Active and ADS-B In Traffic System
- Garmin GWX 75 Weather Radar
This new avionics suite has full integration with the existing autopilot, radar altimeter, FDR, and other retained avionics and aircraft systems.
For audio distribution, SEA utilized the new PS Engineering PAC 45A audio system bringing 12 place passenger intercom with cabin call functionality, CVR integration, 3D audio, and more.
SEA also installed the Mid-Continent Instruments MD 302 SAM, Electronic Standby Instrument to provide a reliable redundant flight instrumentation source if a major electrical failure happens in flight. Check out Luke's product pick video featuring the MD-302 >>
This upgrade brings major improvements to situational awareness and avionics relevance, allowing the aircraft to fly for many more years to come.
