KA-92 GPS Antenna Discontinued
The Honeywell KA-92 GPS Antenna is no longer being manufactured. It has been replaced by the KA-96 WAAS GPS Antenna, which is designed to be compatible with the new KSN770 WAAS System. The KSN770 system will begin shipping in 2009.
The KA-92 antenna was the standard GPS antenna that accompanied previous Bendix/King GPS systems, including: KLN-90 series, KLN-89B, KLN-94, KLN-900, etc.
KA-96 is approved under TSO C190. No airframe or wiring changes are necessary to replace the KA-92, and it does not affect the weight and balance of the aircraft. The KA-96 with new gasket and screws, included in install kit, is a drop in replacement for the KA-92. The screws need to be replaced as the KA-92 uses pan head screws and the KA-96 uses counter sunk screws.
This modification is optional and at the discretion of the aircraft operator.
